Chalet Shiga

Our family run hotel is located in Ichinose which is the geographic center of the Shiga Kogen ski area.
Our hotel is almost ski IN/OUT and with many chair lifts located next to our hotel, skiers and snowboarders have an easy access to all ski areas of Shiga Kogen.
Ichinose may not be a very old typical Japanese village, but rather a beautiful modern resort designed for you to enjoy skiing and snowboarding during your holiday.

Our hotel has been designed like a European style of mountain Chalet, with western/Japanese rooms which makes it very comfortable for guests.

On the ground floor, is located a “Japanese/Western Pub” (Teppa Room), creating a very relaxing après ski atmosphere where you will be served Japanese/Western dishes.
Night life in Ichinose is quiet and not as exciting, but there are a few places around where you can enjoy a drink or dinner! We have hosted many visitors from around the world and believe everyone will feel at home!

We may not be “fluent English speaking”, but we will always do our best to make your stay most enjoyable so you feel the real Japanese hospitability.

Shiga Kogen

60 km from Nagano city, 250 km from Tokyo's busy city hub and 460km from Osaka city, Shiga Kogen is a highly accessible and convenient ski destination.
Shiga Kogen is the giant of the Japanese ski areas and is one of the largest ski resort areas in the world.
Famous for its grand scale, ranging ski terrain, amazing panoramic views, and powder quality snow, Shiga Kogen is the ultimate destination for the keen skier and snowboarder who is in search of the best powder snow.

Shiga Kogen is also famous for having hosted some of the major events of the 1998 Naganowinter Olympic Games.
Consisting of 18 ski fields and about 48 lifts, gondolas and chair lifts, Shiga Kogen is by farthe largest ski resort in Japan.
With merely one lift pass, all 18 interlinked ski fields beckon, offering you the largest winterplayground imaginable. It may very well take you more than 3 or 4 days to ski every course!
And with so many lifts, waiting time is very often nonexistent and courses are never crowded during week days.
Weekends may see more skiers and snowboarders. But the resort is so vast that skiing will always be enjoyable.
The large variety of terrain and courses will satisfy all levels from beginners to advanced skiers and snow boarders.
The elevation of Ichinose village is 1600m above sea level. That makes this modern ski village the highest in Japan with the best snow, both in quality and depth, during the winter season.
